Kristen Leigh, CYT-240
As a student of yoga for several years, in 2009, Kristen Leigh completed a 240-hour Classical Hatha Yoga Teacher Training Program with Paul Jerard of Aura Wellness Center and became a Certified Yoga Teacher (CYT-240). In 2010, with a vision for outdoor and other unique practice experiences, she launched Sweet Escape Yoga. In 2012, Kristen completed the 108-hour Anusara Yoga Immersion program with Gina Minyard of Atlanta Yoga.

Kristen’s Yoga Philosophy
“Yoga is all about balance, mindfulness, and tranquility. I love that Yoga, with its attention to breath and alignment, can draw focus away from a busy, chaotic day and toward a calming moment – as one moves the body through poses that require balance and concentration. I like teaching others to move in a way that brings awareness of abilities and limitations and encourages peace within them. I believe Yoga is best when incorporated into your entire day – not only on the mat, but as you go through life. My classes focus on traditional poses with a little flow and variety to keep it fun.”

Payments are to be made through PayPal (you can use your paypal account, echeck, or credit card to process your payment, you do not need a paypal account to check out). Once you complete the application, if your requested schedule has been approved, you will receive a welcome email and payment link from Kristen.

Who is this for?
Anyone who is interested in working with a teacher live online to try yoga for the first time, start a consistent home yoga practice, fit yoga into his or her busy workday, or practice while traveling.

What class levels are provided?
Sweet Escape Yoga sessions are great for newbies with little or no yoga experience to learn the fundamentals of attention and alignment in the yoga postures, as well as intermediate students looking to incorporate something new into their yoga experience.

What should I wear?
Wear comfortable attire that will stretch with you and allow for a full range of body movements (yoga pants or shorts and a fitted t-shirt or yoga top). Avoid wearing clothing that is too baggy. Typically yoga is practiced with bare feet.

Do I need any yoga props?
To practice yoga, all you really need is you. To make your practice more comfortable, we suggest you bring a yoga mat and water. If you have additional props such as a blanket, a bolster, a strap, or a block, you might want to have them within reach – to utilize, as needed.

What is Skype?
Skype is an online service that enables chats, voice calls and video calls on your desktop, laptop, tablet or smart phone. A basic account is free. Be sure that your account is set-up and that you have tested that it is working properly (video and audio) prior to first session. Learn more here.

When should I “arrive”?
In order to avoid causing yourself undue stress, plan to be ready for your virtual session on time (5-10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time) to log-on and prepare for a great practice.

How long are the classes?
Sweet Escape Yoga virtual sessions include 45 minutes of practice. Allow an hour, to give yourself a little cushion before and after.

What if I’m not very flexible?
Yoga is a non-competitive practice that is wonderful for beginners and advanced yogis alike. Everyone feels self-conscious at first, but as you become more familiar with the poses, you will gain confidence and flexibility. Be sure to listen to your body throughout the practice and take cues from your teacher on modifying poses in a way that’s right for you.

What if I have injuries or limitations?
Please let your teacher know before your session – always keep your teacher updated to any injuries or illnesses you may be experiencing. Always get your physician’s approval before engaging in physical activity such as yoga.

What does the program cost?
The Virtual Escape 4-Week Yoga Series is $200. Prepayment is required.

Why do I have to “apply”?
Space is limited and sessions are scheduled on a first come, first served basis. It’s important to confirm schedule availability before making a payment.

How do I schedule my sessions?
When completing your application, you will see a list of available upcoming schedule options. Select a 4-week schedule (same day and time each week) that works best for you. Schedule approval is done on a first-come, first-served basis.

Do you offer a refund if I don’t use all four of my sessions?
Sweet Escape Yoga does not issue refunds for unused sessions. Sessions that are not conducted prior to the expiration date (6 weeks from chosen start date) are considered forfeited. Sweet Escape Yoga reserves the right to terminate contracts for packages in its sole discretion. In case of any such termination, Sweet Escape Yoga will refund any unused funds.

What if I have to cancel or reschedule one of my sessions?
Because your appointment time has been reserved especially for you, we require 24-hours notice when canceling an appointment. Given proper notice, you are free to reschedule with no charge. Appointments canceled with less than 24-hours notice are charged at the full non-refundable price.
